There are a number of advantages for just doing your ab exercise just at home instead of going to the gym. Saving money from the expensive gym fees may just be one of these. However, what may discourage you from doing so is the fact that you may not have enough ab exercise equipment in your own place. Instead of changing your mind and spending for gym fees, you should instead invest in buying these equipments and take them to your own place. You should not, however, force yourself to buy those more elaborate and definitely more costly ones. You only have to choose those which are the most basic.
The most fundamental may just be the cheapest too, the floor mat. With this, you can perform some exercises for developing the muscles in the abdominal area by just relying on the floor and your weight. The mat will protect your back bones from the hard floor and, of course, will keep you from being dirty. Kettle balls are also basic ab exercise equipment which you can have at home. These may come in different sizes and weights but you should not buy all these at once. If you are just a beginner in an ab fitness program, start with the smaller and lighter ones first.
A chin-up bar is one mechanism that you may not even have to buy. You probably already have an overhanging bar at home that you can make use for chinning-up. If there is none, just buy a stainless steel bar that is sturdy enough to carry your weight and install it somewhere in the house. You may place it on a door jamb but then you may not be able to shut the door with it. A huge exercise ball may also be a cheap buy. This basic ab exercise equipment is also another thing that you must have at home.
If you are, however, interested in having relatively advanced equipment in your home, then you may need to spend a little more. Again, you should not go for large and intricate ones unless you have a particular place for it in your home and you are way beyond being a beginner. Among the good choices you can have are a rowing machine and a vertical knee raise machine. These machines are not too big but the effects it can have on your ab-shaping efforts can be quite significant.
